Regular in-Person Events in the EU are starting up again!

After a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are finally seeing conferences, trade show and in person meetings taking place in Europe again. We are already assisting companies with VAT planning for their 2022 events.

General VAT rule:
If a U.S. company hosts an event in and charges an attendee fee they legally need to register for VAT that country, and charge VAT to most of the attendees.
• Good news is that the U.S. organizer can often claim back most of the VAT from the vendors.
• Each country has their own specific VAT rules.
• If the attendee is a European company they most likely can reclaim their VAT too.
• VAT should generally not be a cost to any company only to private people.
