Poland is making it harder for businesses to commit VAT fraud
The Senate in Poland passed legislation on May 9, 2019, that companies are now required to use officially registered bank accounts for all business-to-business payments.
This means businesses that fail to make payments to registered bank accounts now lose the ability to book those payments. The senate believes this measure will prevent fraud that involves vendors selling goods, adding value-added tax to the price, and then not paying the collected VAT to the tax authority.
